DVD - CD LAUNCH - FRIDAY 6 SEPTEMBER AB Bowls Club

DVD - CD LAUNCH - FRIDAY 6 SEPTEMBER, 2013

WHERE:  Airlie Beach Bowls Club, Jubilee Pocket
WHEN:  Friday 6 September commencing at 5pm
WHY: To launch and celebrate Adrian Connor's  proud achievement of his         "AIRLIE BEACH MEMORIES"   DVD                                                               ….and also to farewell Allen and Barbara Southwood.
THE STORY: Adrian Connor was the "official" photographer at our Airlie reunion on 29 June. As a result of the spirit of the evening and the wealth of memorabilia that emerged, Adrian became passionate about using his excellent skills to edit and produce a memorable tribute to our history. He has literally spent hundreds of hours voluntarily researching, editing and combining all the diverse memorabilia into a cohesive, interesting and heart-warming DVD worthy of being treasured for many years to come.
COST: THE DVD - $20.00 - A combination of rare film footage, old photos, music recordings, reunion photos and voice over produced into a DVD.
THE PHOTO DVD   - $10.00  -  A collection of reunion photos and early Airlie photos produced in a printable photo format.
DVD & CD PACKAGE - $25.00
RSVP / ORDERS / QUESTIONS: Pam Pole 4946 1271 - 0448 870 482 - pampole@hotmail.com
RSVP FOR SAUSAGE SIZZLE & BOWLS GAME: Sandy - 0488 754 184 or 4946 7656
POSTSCRIPTS: In the course of working on our history, Adrian's car and his belongings were    vandalised and torched. This evening is therefore a community way of supporting Adrian in the spirit of the 1970s and 1980s.
We also ask that you treat the Airlie Beach Memories DVDs with respect - and that you reward Adrian for his many hours of work by NOT copying them NOR placing them on the Internet. By not copying or sharing these DVDs you will allow Adrian the opportunity to be reimbursed for all his work by the DVD sales and to re-establish himself after his losses.

Finish the year on a roll!

Hi all,

This coming Sunday (30/12/2012) is not an organised bowls day but the club will open at 12:00 noon for anyone wanting to bowl. There may or may not be a bowls director attending so bowlers may have to look after themselves.

Be there by 12:30pm for a 1:00pm start. Green fees of $8.00 will apply.

Also, a reminder of Wednesday 2nd January. Usually Men's bowls, but for a few weeks it will be a mixed day. Ladies can either mix with the men or form their own teams.

Club will open at 12:00 noon (bar will be open), names in by 12:30 PM for a 1:00 PM start. Green fees of $8.00 will apply.

It will be a good chance for the Business House Bowls members to experience 21 ends instead of the usual 8 or 10 ends on Wednesday nights.

Regards,

Paul Osborne

Bowls Coub Sunday Roast Beef & Gravy or Asian with popular Thailand meal, Massaman Curry Chicken

Fair dinkum, the WHITEHAVEN ROOM cook is bending over backwards trying to please with this week's SUNDAY ROAST.
Not only has he put most peoples favourite, the Roast Beef & Gravy with vegies on the menu, he has gone all Asian with a very popular Thailand meal, Massaman Curry Chicken, served on steamed rice and with a side serving of sambles.

I know I'm going to have a hard time choosing.

Why don't you come along to the Airlie Beach Bowls Club WHITEHAVEN ROOM and have a hard time choosing also. At least with the desert, blueberry muffin with custard, you won't have to choose because blueberry muffin with custard is all there is.

You can enjoy the WHITEHAVEN ROOM ROAST DINNER with a quiet ale or twoKitchen is serving from 5.30 to 7.00 PM, you don't have to book, but it would be nice (for the cook) if you sent a note to airliebowls@bigpond.com or phoned on 4946 7656 however, whatever you do, I advise you to be early rather than late.

Hope to see you there.

What are you doing for Fathers Day?

What are you doing for Fathers Day? Whether HE be your father or the father of your children, surely, in addition to showering him with gifts you would want him to enjoy a great dinner like you can experience at the Airlie Beach Bowls Club WHITEHAVEN ROOM; and you don't have to slave over a hot stove.

If you haven't already sampled the WHITEHAVEN ROOM ROAST DINNER, this coming Sunday, Fathers Day, is your chance. The brochure gives details of your choice of either roast lamb and gravy or corned silverside with garlic cream, served with a delicious potato bake, baked sweet potato and green peas and carrots; afterwards delight in a scrumptious steamed pudding with custard and cream.

Kitchen is serving from 5.30 to 7.00 PM (you don't have to book, but I advise you to be early rather than late).

Hope to see you there.

Those where the days!

Last week I might have gone a bit far by saying we all have pleasant memories of our mothers roast dinners. One poor soul replied to my email and informed me that he could only remember his mother giving him bread and dripping on Sundays. Maybe he became accustomed to the taste because he never came to the club to see what a real roast dinner is all about. I remember the bread and dripping too but I also remember mum's roast dinners.

If you want to re-live those times and savoir those tastes again (not the bread and dripping), the closest you will get to it is at the Airlie Beach Bowls Club WHITEHAVEN ROOM.

If you haven't already sampled the WHITEHAVEN ROOM ROAST DINNER, this coming Sunday is your chance. The brochure gives details of your choice of either roast Pork and apple sauce or roast chicken, served with roast vegetables and green beans; afterwards delight in a delicious Pavlova with fruit and cream.

Kitchen is serving from 5.30 to 7.00 PM (I advise you to be early rather than late).

Hope to see you there.

Here Kitty!

Hi everybody,

I want to bring to the attention of not only people who are in charge of bowling days and bowling functions and parties but everybody, of the fact that we are losing kitties. These kitties cost approximately $50 to $60 each to replace.
I doubt if they would be disappearing on club bowling days, it would be more likely they are being taken as souvenirs by strangers on days like Bare Foot Bowls, Business House Bowls and other functions. This would put pressure on the people controlling these functions to be very alert to ensure the kitties, in fact any items that belong to your club are not being taken.

These items are your property and replacement costs will ultimately be paid by you.
Regards,

Paul Osborne
