Bowls notes week ending 27th September
Tuesday Ladies afternoon bowls was very well attended and great games were played by all. Winners for the day with the highest winning margin were Doreen Whitehouse, Marie Welsh and Elaine Hadlow defeating Netta Smith, Mae Secomb and Jean Paterson 32 - 15. Other games Debbie McLean, Brenda Griffiths and Judi Wright defeated Mabel Davy, Meryl Chard and Alison Holmes 20 - 18. Caitlin Gazzara, Noela Whitehead and Margo Stanley defeated Faye Garland, Doreen Peadon and Jo Howes 19 - 13.
Next Tuesday is our Ladies One Day Carnival, please make every effort to put yourself in a team, see Games Controller Elaine Hadlow. Games commence at 9.30am, basket lunch, raffles, cent sale etc, we should have a lovely day.
Men's afternoon on Wednesday finally saw the jackpot won by Lloyd Whitehead, Tom Lanham and Peter Hinschen who also won the day with the highest winning score defeating Keith Dunn, Victor Migliorini and Ron Spence 27 - 11. Other games Herb Secomb and Bryan Mayson defeated Steve Tattam and David Pirie 23 - 19, Richard Whitehouse and Col Howes defeated John Fornasiero and Robert Orr 25 - 16.
Friday Night Barefoot bowls saw a lively crowd and a great time was had by all. Visitors from other countries who have not played bowls before thought it was a blast, so if you have nothing on this Friday, come and give bowls a go, you will not be sorry. Cost is $12 for bowls hire, game and sausage sizzle. Ring and put your names down to 49467656.
Sunday afternoon Social bowls sponsored by Retravision was just wonderful, the green was perfect and members and visitors alike had a great day. Thanks to Marcus and Nicole Craig for their support again this year. Winners for the day with 1 for and end and 3 for a win were: Debbie McLean, David Stock and Eric Bottle defeating Jim Keighery, Victor Migliorini and Brenda Griffiths 18 - 6. Runners up were Lloyd Whitehead, Doreen Peadon and Sandy Barrile defeating Richard Whitehouse, Paul Osborne and Elaine Hadlow 17 - 7. Betty Stock, Ron Spence and Mae Secomb defeated Mabel Davy, Eddie Monroe and Col Howes 15 - 8, Keith Dunn, Tom Lanham and Robert Orr defeated Joanne Peasley, Eileen Halliday and Judi Wright 16 - 8. Netta Smith, Noela Whitehead and Jo Howes defeated Doreen Whitehouse, Herb Secomb and Margo Stanley 14 - 10.
Our Progressive Dinner will be held on Saturday 24th October, this is a wonderful evening and is a fundraiser for the club, so get your friends together for a good time. Tickets are available at the club or from Margo Stanley 49480444.
